Our Origin Story

In 2022, four passionate, multi-published writers came together to talk about their shared love of words, and what a thrill it is to turn something as awesome-sauce as making up love stories into a full-time living.

Out of that chat the How to Write Academy was born, and with our first How to Write Love foundation course selling out in twenty-four hours, it has been a whirlwind ever since.

To say we have been blown away by the feedback from course attendees - with comments ranging from "inspiring" to "best romance writing course I've ever taken" to "I would not be where I am without the fab four" - is an understatement. Our brand of positive productivity has hit the mark in a big way.

Finding ourselves THE romance writing course romance publishers are recommending to aspiring and newly published writers is beyond even our pretty-vivid dreams.

So if you're keen to supercharge your writing and career, we're the team to help you do it (and we can't wait!)

Meet the Team

Clare Connelly is an Adelaide-based writer with more than one hundred full length novels under her belt. In 2014, Clare self-published her debut novel and by the end of the year was an Amazon All-Star in the UK and the US (one of the top selling Amazon-exclusive authors). In 2016, Clare accepted a contract with Harlequin Mills & Boon and has since published more than forty five titles with them, whilst continuing to self-publish. She also writes a feel-good small-town series for Tule.

Clare writes in between doing the school run, making lunch boxes that her children barely touch, and takes long walks on the beach to untangle any of those knotty little plot problems. She's passionate about teaching writing, helping authors improve productivity and getting to grips with self-publishing.

Clare Connelly books are angst-filled and escapist (no covid, no worrying about paying bills!).

Her books are available in many languages, as well as in audio. She lives to read and write, and also loves teaching all things writing, talking about words and helping people gain the confidence to finish their own book.
